COVID-19: KFG Updates

March 20, 2020

Last week KFG announced the difficult decision to close the Kahler Financial office. After re-assessing the situation today, we have decided to continue the office closure at this time to do our part in keeping our community safe.

Moving forward, we plan to re-assess the fluid COVID-19 situation each Friday and will make an announcement of any changes at that time. Please watch your email each Friday for the latest updates.

Although our physical office is closed, our entire team continues working remotely.

As mentioned in last week’s email, there are a few things we want you to know during this time:

WE ARE STILL WORKING.

We will continue serving our clients fully during this time.

Our entire team will continue working remotely. We have worked with our IT providers to make sure each team member has a secure workstation where they can take care of everyday business remotely.

Monitoring the markets, investment transactions, and normal planning will continue to take place as it would with our associates in the office.

Some associates will be coming in and out of the office as needed to keep up with physical items that will need to be addressed.

Meetings will be adjusted to take place virtually, either via Zoom or phone calls. Lilly will continue to reach out to our clients to make any necessary adjustments to our already scheduled meetings and to set up new meetings by request. Yesterday we sent out communications lining out what we as Kahler Financial Group are doing to deal with the COVID-19 crisis.

However, this morning after much contemplation, we’ve made the difficult decision to close the KFG office for the next week to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. This is obviously a fluid situation, so we’ll be monitoring and adjusting our plans and timeline accordingly.

This is a tough call for many reasons. Our clients have always and continue to be the most important part of our business. We value taking care of our clients planning needs in an effective and timely fashion, and we also value keeping them safe physically and emotionally. Following the procedures suggested of “social distancing”, we have decided to close the office for the rest of the week to do our part in keeping our community safe. We plan to re-assess the situation next weekend to see if we will re-open or extend the closure at that time. Current plans are to reopen the office on Monday, March 23rd unless our re-assessment over the weekend warrants other actionable measures.

The situation regarding COVID-19 (also called the coronavirus) is rapidly changing and we’d like to provide updates regarding the KFG office. Our goal is to keep you, your family and the entire community as safe and healthy as possible. Schools, sporting events, some businesses and many other social gatherings have been cancelled or closed. The CDC has recommended “social distancing,” which means reducing unnecessary interactions with other people. The goal is to slow and prevent the spread of this virus.

With the CDC’s recommendations in mind, we have made the following operational adjustments until the threat of virus transmission has decreased.

We will continue to fully service clients.

*When calling KFG, if you do not reach your intended party, please be sure to leave a message. Our voicemail messages are emailed to our inboxes. We will call you back upon receiving the message.

*If you have something you feel you MUST come into the office for, please call ahead and ensure someone will be here to assist you.

You may scan and email or fax things into the office. Our fax number is 605-721-0194.

We will continue working. We are open for business.

Someone will be at the office to cover trading in a timely and efficient manner. Please know we are diligently re-balancing, loss harvesting, and monitoring client portfolios.

Some of our associates will be working remotely in order to facilitate the mandates of school closures, family schedules, etc.

We will continue to meet with clients.

However all meetings will now be held virtually either by video or phone call.

We have full remote meeting capabilities and will continue to hold client meetings virtually. Client Services will work with you to get these set up.

We will continue to watch the markets and educate our clients.
