An advisor who has your best interests at heart will typically ask you a lot of questions. This could be in the form of a written questionnaire prior to an initial interview or verbal questions when you first meet. Regardless of the method, what is important is that the advisor makes a genuine effort to find out about your needs first. Beware of the advisor who immediately launches into selling you on their service or a specific product without taking time to know your needs.
